Final Photoshop Project 1.09.43 AM 1.09.43 AM.jpg

Assignment: Create a magazine cover using PhotoShop.

The given theme was based on popular culture and the title of the magazine was to be Millennial.  We were to create a realistic magazine cover with these guidelines, and the rest was up to creative pursuit.

I chose my headlines based on social media usage and the endeavor to cultivate a better personal aesthetic. The magazine cover features Lindsey Rempalski, a known YouTuber with over 270k subscribers.  Lindsey is known for having a very inspiring sense of self and style, and I wanted to evoke the same feeling within the magazine.

The theme of the newsletter was a very broad one – sports.  We could choose a multitude of sports to cover, or focus on a particular one.  The title of the magazine had to be “Sports Time”.

Minimalism was key in my newsletter – I wanted to achieve a simplistic, informative publication that was to be as decluttered as possible.  I primarily focused on stories from my hometown area, the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The ST logo on the banner and bottom-right hand corner of the second page was inspired by the logo for the San Francisco Giants.  I incorporated a black-and-white theme with a splash of color in the bottom right hand corner of the first page.  I chose red because it was also a part of many featured images in the newsletter, as well as the baseball in the banner.
