The Inaugural Address

“We are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People.” – Donald Trump, 2017 Inaugural Address.

The main theme of Donald Trump’s speech is his belief that American politicians work in their own self-interests and do not aim to help the American people. This is a very rock ‘n’ roll belief of “fight the system”, but Donald Trump is “the system” and he is someone who benefits greatly from the system.

Trump also says, “January 20th 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again. The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer.  Everyone is listening to you now.”

He’s correct about this – everyone is listening.  With the availability of media access, everyone is very much politically aware compared to the past.  People have more control now, specifically in the form of gathering and protesting.  On January 20th 2017, more than 2 million people gathered to participate in the Women’s March from multiple locations.

Donald Trump has united the people in this new era of politics, and he has made the American people stronger together.
